On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Technical Business Analyst for a 12 month (Inside IR35) hybrid contract based in Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle up to 3 days per week.
Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:
- Help people to move into work and support those already in work to progress, with the aim of increasing overall workforce participation
- Help people to plan and save for later life, while providing a safety net for those who need it now
- Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society
- Improve experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.
We require a technically focused Business Analyst working alongside engineering, architecture, DevOps and product teams to deliver shared capabilities and technical enablers that support many feature / product teams.
You will operate across different phases, facilitating technical design discussions, analysing complex business and technical processes, defining and validating requirements and user stories, also supporting discovery & Proofs of Concept/Capabilities.
You should have recent applied experience working directly with software development teams that evidence SFIA level 5.
Key responsibilities:
- Requirements, Analysis & Validation: Elicit stakeholder and user needs, analyse complex business/technical processes, map and validate requirements, and ensure solutions accurately reflect real user and stakeholder priorities.
- Technical BA Expertise: Strong technical background with the ability to assimilate technology concepts quickly, write detailed technical user stories, and support engineering focused requirements across digital, data, DevOps, security and platform domains.
- Facilitation & Collaboration: Lead technical discussions, work closely with engineering teams to ensure shared understanding, and build strong relationships with Product Managers, architects, QA, and wider technical stakeholders.
- Lean & Outcome Driven Delivery Support: Apply lean thinking to optimise value, scope requirements to definition of ready, provide ongoing clarification throughout development/testing, and manage constraints to unblock technical delivery.
Core technical skills, knowledge and experience:
- Facilitating technical discussions to ensure the right design solution
- Analysing complex business and technical processes considering any opportunities, benefits, and risks and apply lean thinking to optimise value
- Scoping, mapping, validating and detailing requirements and associated user stories that meet the definition of ready and provide ongoing clarification throughout development and testing
- Eliciting stakeholder/user needs and identifying constraints, ensuring these are managed to enable development
- Ensuring solution requirements are reflective of stakeholder/user needs
- Supporting high quality evaluations of ideas and proof of concept/capability activity, including ideation, discovery, scoping, success factors, risks, assumptions, proposals and value realisation plans with appropriate metrics
- Engaging a wide range of stakeholders, primarily Product Managers, DevOps, software engineering, data engineering/science, architecture and security, to establish requirements and priorities
- Assimilating technical/technology requirements quickly and challenging effectively while building and retaining strong working relationships in both one-to-one and group settings
- Working closely with technical team members to ensure shared understanding of requirements for implementation
