On behalf of EANI, we are looking for a Financial Analyst (Inside IR35/PAYE) for a 6 month contract based In Belfast 2-3 days per week in the office.
EA was established on 1 April 2015 under the Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2014. EA is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department of Education (DE) and the Department for the Economy (DfE), responsible for ensuring that efficient and effective primary and secondary education and educational services are available to meet the needs of children and young people, and for ensuring the provision of efficient and effective youth services.
As a Financial Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
- Manage the Special Schools business area – getting a deep understanding of the actual spend to better inform forecasts.
- Analysis of general ledger transactions – getting a deeper understanding of the actual spend, analysing and undertaking trend analysis. Correcting miscoding transactions (and getting to the initial cause), looking at manual journals, their values and ascertaining the relevance. Potentially even looking at purchase orders, their value and bringing this into forecasts.
- Analysis of the General Ledger can also pick up prepayments and potential accruals.
- Analysis of agency staff, to better inform a forecast, and accruing outstanding charges.
- Input into salary forecasting, updating for actual spend and forecasting for future months and identifying potential future savings.
- Development of our current suite of reports for our business areas, to include a standardisation of reports across areas, especially a monthly DMT report.
- Deeper analysis of substitution costs and legal cases.
- Development of monthly financial packs – to include actual spend to date and forecasts for the remainder of the year – automating the process as far as possible.
Essential:
- Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant
- Financial Background
- Experience in Financial analysis
- Strong Excel and Modelling skills
- Analysing large datasets
- Spend analysis
- Public sector experience
- Experience in developing Repotting Standardisation
