Description & Requirements

On behalf of The UK Space Agency, we are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant Inside IR35 for a contract Until 31st March 2026 based Hybrid working (2 days per week in Edinburgh or Cardiff office and remaining WFH)


Role Overview

The UK Space Agency is seeking an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to provide interim support during a period of team transition. The role will support Finance Business Partners (FBPs) and contribute to core financial operations, ensuring robust financial data and timely management information to drive decision-making.


The main duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Management Accountant would be to:

  • Prepare and post journals.
  • Perform reconciliations and maintain ledger integrity.
  • Investigate and manage purchase orders (POs) using Oracle.
  • Undertake month-end activities including budget profiling and forecasting.
  • Provide variance analysis and risk updates to senior managers.
  • Produce high-quality reports and insightful management information.
  • Cleanse and prepare data for analysis and reporting.
  • Support accurate cash forecasting.
  • Work closely with FBPs to deliver suitable reporting for stakeholders.


Essential:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Management Accountant
  • At least part-qualified in accountancy (or significant relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications)
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle and Excel.
  • Part-qualified accountant (minimum).
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results
  • Experience with prepayments and ledger reviews.


Desirable Skills:

  • Public sector experience.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and Alteryx.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
