AMS PSR

On behalf of AWE, we are looking for a Radiation Protection Advisor Inside IR35  for an 18 months contract based Hybrid with 2 days a week in Alverstoke and the rest from home

AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 

As a Radiation Protection Advisor, your main responsibilities will be:

• To lead the delivery of core radiation protection and dosimetry services within assigned areas of responsibility, manage the day-to-day running of these services and ensure that associated deliverables are completed to a high standard in terms of quality and efficiencies to ensure confidence from customers and efficient ways of working for the business.
• Ensure that AWE radiation protection and dosimetry practices are technically justified and meet the required technical and regulatory standards.
• Act as subject matter expert for an assigned scientific field of radiation protection, health physics or dosimetry.
• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
• Develop, improve and enhance capabilities assigned to their areas of responsibility.
• Develop and maintain effective interfaces with stakeholders, understanding their requirements and acting to improve the service for them where possible

Essential:

• Experience in policy in defence and radiation -GSP392 handbook of radiation for defence
• Experience in Training and delivering training
• RPA 2000 certificate
