On behalf of AWE, we are looking for a Senior Buyer (Inside IR35) for a 15 month hybrid contract with a minimum of 2 office working days per week from Aldermaston and then from January based from Reading.
What if you could work on something that you can’t test… but cannot afford to fail? Something that could have spent years on a submarine, is launched into outer space (where the temperature is below -250c), comes hurtling through the atmosphere, being heated up and shaken and then must work? AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As a Senior Buyer within the Sourcing Event Management Team, your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop robust Stakeholder relationships to ensure speedy resolution of queries within required deadlines.
- Provide support to Sourcing Event Management Team Lead and task-based support to the wider team members.
- Quick Integration into and develop of collaborative ways of working within the Sourcing Event Management Team
- Set up, maintain and review the allocated sourcing-to-contract activities for procurement projects valued at over £100,000
- Provide subject matter expert knowledge and champion best practice.
- Ensure Source to Contract processes, tools and systems are adhered to, providing training as needed.
- Implement and manage the full tendering process online using Jaggear.
- Provide first point of contact for specific AWE Category Tower(s) as allocated.
Essential:
- Team leadership skills at a supervisory level– ability to support and guide others effectively.
- Experience with Jaagear or similar sourcing systems
- Hands-on approach to managing daily sourcing activities.
- Strong collaboration with category managers to ensure sourcing requirements are met.
- Proven stakeholder engagement across wider business communities
- Quick learner – able to take on new tasks with minimal training.
- Experience working in a change-driven environment with process improvement and risk management
- Understanding of PCR2015 regulations in source-to-contract activities.
