On behalf of AWE, we are looking for an 2 x Assistant Buyers (Inside IR35) for an 18 month contract on a hybrid basis (2-3 days in Reading, remainder remote)
What if you could work on something that you can’t test… but cannot afford to fail? Something that could have spent years on a submarine, is launched into outer space (where the temperature is below -250c), comes hurtling through the atmosphere, being heated up and shaken and then must work? Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. As an Assistant Buyer your main responsibilities will be:
- Maintaining robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate order placement and on time delivery Delivering objectives to agreed timescales.
- Ensuring Supply Chain processes, tools and systems are understood and adhered to.
- Promoting and ensuring the use of a fully evaluated and approved supply base.
- Working with key stakeholders to ensure the speedy resolution of queries, expediting of deliveries and closing overdue commitments.
- Supporting change and championing best practice to promote the SCM function.
- Actively seeking learning and development opportunities.
- Consistently demonstrating positive behaviours in line with the company's environmental, sustainability, safety, health, security, quality and ethics standards
Essential:
- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
- Experience of sourcing to contract
- Experience of Public Procurement Regulations
- The Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (PCR 2015)
- The Procurement Act 2023 (PA 2023)
- Knowledge of end-to-end public procurement
- Experience of end-to-end tendering
- Tender evaluation experience
- Experience of System Implementations (finance)
- Previous experience in a procurement/purchasing environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of JAGGAER preferably or Ariba as an equivalent.
Desirable:
- Background in nuclear or Defence
- Jaggaer Sourcing system experience
- Experience of sourcing to contract
- CEMAR experience
- NEC 4 experience
- Experience of end-to-end tendering
- Experience of System Implementations (finance)
