About the Role:

The Investment Portfolio Management (“IPM”) Project Management Officer (“PMO”) will support the effective operation of Great British Energy’s Investment Portfolio Management function by providing disciplined portfolio coordination, governance support, delivery tracking and management information across the end-to-end investment process.

The role will help ensure that portfolio, pipeline and governance activities are well organised, transparent and decision-useful, and that actions arising from investment forums are tracked through to completion.

The role will be central to embedding consistent PMO disciplines across Investment Portfolio Management, helping the function scale as GBE’s investment activity develops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the IPM team, maintaining core trackers, plans, logs and reporting outputs across portfolio and pipeline activities.
  • Collate deal pipeline and investment portfolio key ratings, metrics, and events to ensure that a complete and current picture of GBE’s investment activity is available to its leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate inputs for governance forums and investment decision-making processes, including timetables, paper collation, version control, action tracking and follow-up.
  • Maintain an integrated view (including relevant dashboards) of key milestones, dependencies, approvals and deliverables across the investment pipeline and wider portfolio management function.
  • Produce regular management information, dashboards and summary reporting on pipeline status, committee readiness, portfolio governance activity and delivery progress.
  • Work with deal teams and functional colleagues to ensure consistent information flows between pipeline management, investment governance and post-investment portfolio oversight.
  • Support quality control over papers and submissions, helping improve completeness, consistency and readiness before items progress through governance stages.
  • Help identify bottlenecks, process issues and recurring themes across the pipeline and portfolio management cycle, escalating issues and supporting continuous improvement
  • Maintain organised records and audit trails to support transparency, assurance and information management requirements.
  • Assist in developing PMO tools, templates, reporting standards and ways of working that support a robust and scalable investment portfolio management function.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis, meeting support and coordination for deep dives, portfolio reviews and strategic planning activity as required.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a single source of truth for pipeline and portfolio activity, including transition to any future deal management system or CRM-enabled process.
  • Support process improvement by documenting current ways of working, identifying avoidable duplication and proposing practical improvements to governance and reporting rhythms.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in a PMO, portfolio, programme, project coordination, governance, operations or similar role.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and information flows accurately.
  • Experience maintaining trackers, plans, action logs, governance documentation or management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Good written communication skills, including experience preparing papers, reports, updates or presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and build constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to record keeping, quality control and follow-through.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving and evolving environment, applying structure and judgement where processes are still developing.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and Word.
  • Comfortable handling sensitive investment, governance and portfolio information with appropriate confidentiality and version control.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting investment, infrastructure, energy or other complex project-based environments.
  • Experience supporting committee processes or governance forums.
  • Familiarity with portfolio reporting, pipeline management or PMO tooling.
  • Awareness of public sector governance, assurance or accountability requirements.
