About the Role:
Great British Energy is looking for a External Affairs Lead to join our GBE Strategy & Policy Team. This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading key stakeholder engagement campaigns, working closely with the Chief Executive on their engagement programme
- Working with the Head of External Affairs and wider team to shape and deliver core elements of the external affairs strategy
- Managing proactive and reactive engagement opportunities, including developing creative approaches and assessing associated risks and benefits
- Leading stakeholder mapping and sentiment tracking, identifying opportunities to advance GBE’s mission and inform engagement approaches
- Ensuring engagement activity is effectively planned, evaluated and reported, with clear and compelling materials aligned to strategic priorities
- Representing GBE at external forums, conferences and stakeholder events, positioning the organisation as a leader in clean energy
- Leading programmes of CEO and Chair engagement, stakeholder forums, advocacy outreach and supply chain engagement activity
- Supporting broader public affairs activity such as Select Committee preparation
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in an external affairs, public affairs, government relations or stakeholder engagement role within a complex organisation
- Strong understanding of, and interest in, the UK and devolved political and energy landscape
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to work across a matrix structure and build effective relationships in complex environments
- Proven experience planning, delivering and evaluating engagement strategies that build advocacy
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise and timely insights to inform decision-making
- Demonstrable ability to lead briefs and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work at pace, prioritise effectively and drive outcomes in a complex and evolving context, maintaining resilience for both self and team
- Strong track record of building trusted relationships with government, industry stakeholders, local leaders and community representatives
Desirable:
- Degree level preferable
