On behalf of The Department for Transport, we are looking for a HR Administrator (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based in London (Hybrid 2-3 days per week)

The Role:

The Human Resources Administrator provides comprehensive administrative support to the HR function, ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations. The role supports employee lifecycle processes including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, payroll administration, HR communications, and HR compliance activities. The postholder will work closely with managers and employees to deliver a professional and responsive HR service.


As a HR Administrator your main responsibilities will be:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing documentation, and responding to HR enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, personnel files, and HR system data.
  • Support recruitment activities, including interview coordination, candidate communication, offer documentation, and pre-employment checks.
  • Coordinate onboarding processes, including right-to-work checks, induction arrangements, and new starter administration.
  • Support HR processes such as probation reviews, performance management cycles, absence monitoring, and training administration.
  • Produce HR reports and management information, including headcount, turnover, and workforce data.
  • Assist with the administration of payroll by providing accurate starter, leaver, and contractual change information.
  • Support the development, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with HR audits and compliance activities to ensure adherence to employment legislation and company policies.
  • Coordinate HR-related meetings, events, training sessions, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Take notes at HR meetings as required and provide general administrative support to the wider HR team.


Essential:

  • Experience in an HR or administrative role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience using HR systems and maintaining employee records.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience supporting payroll administration and maintaining accurate data records.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.


Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification, or willingness to work towards a CIPD qualification (Level 3 or Level 5) through an apprenticeship or professional development programme.
  • Previous experience in recruitment and onboarding administration.
  • Experience producing HR reports and workforce metrics.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using HR Information Systems (HRIS) and document management systems such as OneDrive.
