Description & Requirements


On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a  Supplier Management Development Lead (Inside IR35) for a 8 month hybrid contract based in Andover or Whittington.


The successful candidate will be expected to work 3 days in the office and the remainder working from home. There will also be an expectation of travel to other MOD locations twice a month.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 


As a Supplier Management Development Lead ,your main responsibilities will be:


  • Lead and develop a high‑performing SRM team, building confidence and capability
  • Act as the senior commercial voice in internal forums and with industry
  • Drive MOD and Cabinet Office commercial policy, governance and best practice
  • Reset and embed effective contract management and SRM fundamentals
  • Build and manage a portfolio of critical and strategic suppliers
  • Lead supplier performance, risk, resilience and contingency planning
  • Challenge poor performance and inefficiencies; drive continuous improvement
  • Deliver cashable savings, efficiencies and social value outcomes
  • Use data and insight to inform strategy, identify risk and shape markets
  • Represent DIO at senior supplier meetings, Crown Rep forums and industry events
  • Build trusted relationships with senior supplier stakeholders
  • Lead SRM governance, forums, boards and performance reviews
  • Analyse supplier health, market behaviour and supply chain fragility
  • Identify innovation, cost reduction and value‑for‑money opportunities
  • Facilitate workshops, pilots and 360‑degree supplier engagement activity
  • Provide clear commercial advice and insight to senior stakeholders and ExCo
