On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Senior Ecologist for a 12 month hybrid contract based in either Exeter or Bristol.

As a Senior Ecologist, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Survey ecosystems and assess the diversity, profusion and behaviour of the different organisms within them.
- Conduct field surveys to collect biological information about the numbers and distribution of organisms.
- Carry out taxonomy, classification of organisms, applying sampling strategies and employing a range of habitat survey techniques.
- Work on habitat management and creation, writing reports and issuing recommendations.
- Liaise with and advise, site managers, engineers, planners and others associated with a survey building relationships with stakeholders.
- Keep up to date with new environmental policies and legislation, and contribute ideas about changes based on ecological findings.
Essential:
- Specific previous experience of large-scale linear habitat management.
- Specific experience of managing complex Dormouse licences.
- Hold a personal Dormouse (survey) licence.
- Have been Named Ecologist on previous Mitigation Licences.
