On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Financial Accountant (Inside IR35) for a 3 months (Potential extension) contract based REMOTELY

The Financial Accountant will play a key role in supporting the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial data following system migrations. Working closely with the Financial Control team, Finance Business Partners, and the Fusion Stabilisation team, the role will focus on investigating migrated balances, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring the correct accounting treatment is applied across the balance sheet and income & expenditure (I&E).
This role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and an ability to understand end to end accounting processes within the system.
As a Financial Accountant, your main responsibilities will be:
- Investigate migrated balance sheet and I&E items, ensuring correct accounting treatment and coding.
- Collaborate with Financial Control and Finance Business Partners to resolve discrepancies and validate historical balances.
- Review migrated POs, invoices, receipts, and duplicated items with the Fusion Stabilisation team.
- Analyse current year financial data to identify anomalies, variances, and underlying root causes.
- Agree required corrections and prepare or support the posting of correcting journals.
- Ensure all corrective actions comply with accounting standards, internal controls, and system processes.
Essential:
- Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, balance sheet controls, and core financial governance.
- Proven analytical and problem solving abilities, with confidence interpreting and simplifying complex data.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Fusion/Oracle advantageous) and documenting or mapping processes.
- High attention to detail, methodical working style, and strong collaboration skills across cross functional teams.
Desirables:
- Map end to end accounting processes within Fusion, documenting accounting flows and system behaviour.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen accuracy, control, and efficiency.
