AMS PSR

On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Full Stack Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 3 Months contract based REMOTELY/ in UK Wide.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

As a Full Stack Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• Build the "Paved Road": You will be a core contributor to our developer enablement strategy. You'll create tooling, reusable framework components, and automated CI/CD patterns that make it easy for our service teams to build, test, and deploy their applications quickly and safely.
• Lead, Mentor, and Multiply: Your primary measure of success will be the increased capability and autonomy of our service teams. You will achieve this through hands-on pairing, thoughtful code reviews, leading design sessions, and actively building a culture of technical excellence.
• Establish Best Practice Through Code: You will lead from the IDE to establish clear standards for quality and design. You'll build foundational libraries and proof-of-concept services that serve as exemplars for the rest of the organiszation.
• Execute an Evolutionary Strategy: You will be hands-on in the careful, incremental evolution of our core platform towards a modular architecture of well-defined, loosely coupled services. You'll apply your experience to de-risk this complex evolution of a live, mission-critical system.

Essential:

• Substantial experience leading large-scale system refactoring
• Experience in Java, Spring Boot, and SQL
• Experience of Data Migration
• Experience in data modelling, understand performance tuning, and see the database as the foundational pillar for correct applications, not just a bucket for data
• Experience building tools for developers. Whether it's internal libraries, CI/CD extensions, or command-line utilities
• Successfully navigated the refactoring of a large, mission-critical system before
