Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Government Property Agency (GPA), we are looking for a Digital Communications Officer (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract on a hybrid basis (2 days from any GPA hub)

 

The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years.

The role:

We are seeking a creative Digital Communications Officer to join our Marketing and Communications team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the Government Property Agency (GPA) is recognised as a public sector property holding company delivering exceptional workplaces for civil servants.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong digital content creation skills and enthusiasm for communications to develop and deliver engaging campaigns across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have a flair for storytelling, proficiency in digital media, and a commitment to producing high-quality, brand-consistent content.

 

As a Digital Communications Officer your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Content Creation: Develop compelling content for a range of external communications platforms, including LinkedIn, X, YouTube, GOV.UK, newsletters, and the GPA website. Ensure content is high-quality, consistent, and aligned with GPA’s brand guidelines.
  • Video Production & Editing: Support video content creation, with proficiency in editing tools (preferably Adobe Creative Suite) to produce professional digital media.
  • Written Communications: Draft and edit written content for various channels, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Digital Asset Management: Maintain and manage the central Photo Library, ensuring assets are organised and accessible.
  • Mailbox & Request Handling: Manage communications inboxes, respond to internal and external requests, and support general ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with team members, including partnering with the other digital communications officer, to support evaluation, data gathering, and performance metrics. Provide cover during leave or absence of colleagues.
  • Project Support: Contribute to the delivery of communications projects, ensuring deadlines are met and outcomes align with strategic objectives.
  • Engagement & Analysis: Monitor content performance, gather metrics, and provide insights to improve engagement and reach.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in digital content creation, including social media, web, and multimedia platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with video editing, preferably using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Knowledge of digital communication channels and best practice, including social media, websites, and email newsletters.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to producing content that aligns with brand and organisational values.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally and attend monthly team meetings at various GPA locations.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a public sector communications role.
  • Familiarity with GOV.UK content management standards and digital accessibility requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design principles.
  • Experience in evaluating digital communications performance and reporting insights.
  • Creative flair with an interest in storytelling and multimedia production.
