The first duty of Government is to protect the public. Since 1782, the Home Office has led work to keep the country safe from those who seek to do it harm; in doing so, we make a vital contribution to HM Government’s plan for a stronger, fairer, outward-looking and united Britain.
The Home Office covers three systems Homeland Security, Public Safety and Borders, and Immigration and Citizenship. These systems work collaboratively to deliver our cross-cutting priorities, whilst providing increasingly efficient and secure services for the public. These are difficult areas that can rapidly change in the global environment we work in – this makes us one of the most exciting and stimulating government departments in which to work.

- Support procurement projects by shaping financial strategies, developing pricing models, and contributing to contractual documentation.
- Conduct financial due diligence, supplier audits, and open book reviews to assess supplier viability and drive commercial performance.
- Interpret and manage financial risks, contribute to financial schedules, and ensure compliance with departmental finance policies and the Outsourcing Playbook.
- Promote continuous improvement by sharing best practices, delivering training, and enhancing tools and processes across finance and commercial functions.
Essential:
- Relevant professional Accountancy qualification or part qualification (CCAB or CIMA) or qualified by experience.
- Excel and financial modelling skills to a good level;
- Experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting financial information;
- Proven capacity to work collaboratively within a multi-stakeholder environment
- Experience of value for money best practices and techniques.
- Active Sc clearance
Desirable:
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with colleagues;
- The ability to understand and summarise complex financial information quickly and accurately and present conclusions and recommendations;
- The ability to plan, collaborate, and deliver to a high standard and to short deadlines
- A track record of continuous improvement
