On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Risk Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. This is a hybrid working contract (three days per week onsite - Manchester or York).

Job Purpose:
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is the largest Infrastructure project in the North delivering £10.7 billion Programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.
Stretching across the North of England, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels, and crosses over 11 level crossings.
Manage risks and issues facing the project or programme by co-ordinating the consistent identification, documentation, monitoring and reporting of risks and issues. Support the relevant risk or issue owners to identify and develop appropriate mitigation plans. Maintain the Risk Management Strategy and plans in accordance with best practice, policy and the complexity of the change initiative. Ensure compliance with and plan the continuous improvement of Risk and Issues strategies, processes and procedures. Plan the periodic reporting of risk and adhoc Risk and Issues reports to meet changing stakeholder demands.
As a Risk Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Provide leadership and guidance in the concept of R&VM, maintaining their appropriate and effective application to all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Deliver Level 1 Assurance activities as specified by the Principal R&V Manager.
- Manage &/or deliver specialist R&VM support services as dictated by the R&VM maturity of the project community.
- Actively promote R&VM culture and improve R&VM competency across the project and programme management community.
- Monitor the output of others who undertake such R&VM activities to monitor competence, consistency and compliance with Network Rail procedures and provide assurance.
- Manage the buying in of external R&VM support where necessary and that these are delivered to required quality standards.
Essential:
- Expert in all aspects of project and business risk management facilitation
- Able to build risk models in a number of applications, which accurately represent the complexities of cost, schedule and business risk
- Able to coach and challenge management and non-specialists, the results of risk management
- Knowledge of risk management techniques
- Knowledge of project management and project control processes
