Description & Requirements

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Security Architect (Inside IR35) for an 8 Month contract based Remotely (Occasional travel to Swindon).


Join a high-impact Security Foundation and Resilience Project as part of a multi-year programme to enhance UKRI’s IT security posture. You’ll work closely with internal architecture teams and external consultants to deliver secure, scalable solutions.


As a Security Architect your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Produce conceptual and physical security designs, including initial review of third party designs to comply with the target and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Conduct option analysis and provide recommendations to meet design standards, including development of key design decisions and risk impact assessments.
  • Support the transition of designs in coordination with operational teams.
  • Manage security design governance for the project, ensuring designs are fit for purpose and ready for approval at governance boards.
  • Work in close integration with the BAU architecture team, under the guidance of the Principal Security Architect.


Essential:

  • Experience deploying the full suite of tools within Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview under M365 E5 security licensing.
  • Experience deploying Microsoft Sentinel and/or MS LogRhythm within enterprise architecture.
  • In-depth experience of Security Architecture, Operations, Governance and Tooling across;
    • M365 Security Tools
    • Security Architecture
    • Security Governance & Assurance
    • Security Roadmaps
  • Experience designing and deploying within a cloud security reference architecture, preferably Microsoft cloud reference architecture.
  • Ability to design SOC and SOAR blueprints.
  • Familiar with secure-by-design principles, Government Security Standards and NCSC / international security frameworks.
