On behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) we are looking for a Cost Modeller (Inside IR35) for a contract up to until 28.03.2026 on a hybrid basis (2-3 days on site in Corsham)

Role Summary:
Defence Digital provides its global Military and Civilian users with the digital and IT services they need to carry out their work and keep their teams connected, from the hardware and software they use day-to-day, satellite connectivity, operating and defending our networks, access to the spectrum frequencies we need, developing bespoke apps, and much more.
You will work in a multi skilled team encompassing a range of Technical, Financial and P3M skills and experience.
You will be a central figure in the programme contributing costing, estimating, information and assurance services to projects, delivery team leaders and core MOD. Role also encompasses engagement with external stakeholders including Scrutiny and preparation of Financial Assurance statements on behalf of Hd Fin.
As a Cost Modeller your main responsibilities will be:
- This Cost Modeller role is responsible for Cost Estimating/ Cost Modelling activities within the DD Cost Management environment and will lead, supervise and assure the preparation of cost estimates and the development of cost models.
- As a SEO Cost Modeller, you will be the Estimating lead for high value, high profile projects. You will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance on Cost Estimating, ensuring robust quality estimates are provided to inform decision making by Senior Management.
- Day-to-day activities will be varied and will include but not limited to:
· Development and maintenance of Assumptions and Basis of Estimate;
· Financial Treatments;
· Data collection & Normalisation;
· Application of Estimating Methodologies;
· Estimating Uncertainty;
· Probability & Statistics;
· Cost Risk Analysis;
· Economic Analysis;
· Stochastic Modelling including Model Build;
· Data analytics including;
o Cost Driver Analysis;
o Sensitivity Analysis; and
o Scenario Analysis.
· Close engagement with project staff
· Engagement with external stakeholders including Scrutiny
· Support to PCR process
· Maintenance of Models in the live service environment
Quality Assurance including Verification & Validation of Cost Models.
Essential
- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
- Demonstrable evidence of experience in a cost estimating capacity or a proven track record of engagement in an equivalent role.
- Strong background in data analysis, cost estimating and relevant modelling and/or cost risk analysis experience.
- Experience with approvals/doing cost modelling to support approvals
Desirable
- Experience of cost analysis / risk software including but not limited to Palisade @Risk, Arrisca, Parametric Software (SEER) and/or ARM.
