Description & Requirements

On behalf of DSIT, we are looking for a Head of People - (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 3 days per week in the closest office – London, Bristol, Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Darlington, Edinburgh 


The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) brings together the relevant parts of the former Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the former Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). 


The responsibilities for the DSIT are:

  • Positioning the UK at the forefront of global scientific and technological advancement.
  • Driving innovations that change lives and sustain economic growth.
  • Delivering talent programmes, physical and digital infrastructure, and regulation to support our economy, security, and public services.
  • R&D funding.


PLEASE NOTE.  

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.  Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance



As a Head of People - (Inside IR35), your main responsibilities will be:

  • People Experience Ownership: Manage the full People Experience journey, including onboarding and talent management.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop people strategies that align with organizational goals, including workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Talent Management: Work with the Talent Team to attract and retain top talent, optimizing onboarding processes.
  • Pay & Progression: Develop and implement strategies for competitive and transparent career paths for all staff.
  • Performance & Career Development: Implement performance management processes and facilitate career development activities.
  • Change Management & Culture: Support change management efforts, foster a positive organizational culture, and implement employee engagement initiatives, including DEI strategies.


Essential:

  • Leadership & Strategic HR Expertise: Proven ability to lead teams, design and implement innovative HR policies, and align HR initiatives with business goals.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and convey complex information clearly.
  • Analytical & Execution Skills: Proficient in HR analytics, strategic workforce planning, and delivering results in dynamic environments.


Desirable:

  • An understanding or awareness of negotiating secondments,
  • An understanding or awareness of managing global talent, including visa sponsorship requirements.


Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
