Description & Requirements


On behalf of Active Travel England, we are looking for a Business Case Assurance Lead - Inside IR35 for a 6 Month contract (with possible extension) based Hybrid - Remote & 2/3 days p/week in York.


This role will focus on developing & delivering key elements of ATE's sponsorship model agreed at ExCo in December, including leading on business case assurance on existing retained schemes and overall monitoring and review/assurance of non-retained schemes including LUF and CRSTS.


As a Business Case Assurance Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Updating & operating wider sponsorship dashboard to administer the programme & track progress, inc. quarterly reporting on LUF/CRSTS/MRN schemes into capital schemes database.
  • Liaising with ATE inspectorate & wider sponsor teams in DfT - attending meetings, co-ordinating ATE design assurance / VfM responses to schemes.
  • Attending & representing ATE at external meetings with local/combined authorities to support business case development.
  • Leading on reviewing key elements of local/combined authority business cases - providing high quality written feedback to sponsor teams & inputting recommendations to RIC / LIDIC papers.
  • Managing business case evidence folders.


You'll have:

  • Demonstrable Business Case development & assurance experience within the public sector.
  • Project management & quality assurance experience - inc. governance & change control.
  • Excellent organisational skills - ability to deliver stated objectives.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • A relevant Project Management qualification - APM / MSP / Prince 2.
