On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Shipwright (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month contract based in Gosport, Hampshire.

As a Shipwright your main responsibilities will be to:
- Liaise and assist the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Engineering Facilities Manager in the prioritisation and completion of Shipwright and maintenance tasks.
- Operate as part of the maintenance and engineering team who provide technical maintenance and repair of the MOD training yachts.
- Perform woodworking and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) repairs.
- Coordinate work with the other team members to find a solution.
- Assure the quality of Shipwright work.
- Advise on Shipwright repairs and maintenance.
Essential:
- The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in the maritime environment, including working with wood, GRP, and on commercial sailing or motorboats.
- Woodworking and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) repairs.
- Proficiency in Wood work machinery / Static machinery.
- Knowledge or experience of Gel coat repairs.
- A strong understanding of health and safety practices.
- Knowledge of different timber types and GRP materials.
Desirable:
- Experience in removal and replacement of hatches.
- Formal qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Marine Construction, a Boatbuilding apprenticeship, or similar certification from an International Boatbuilding Training College.
Candidates without formal qualifications but with demonstrable experience in sailing yacht maintenance, working with power tools, and using woodworking machinery are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to suitable candidates.
