On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Content and UX Strategist (Inside IR35) for a 10 week contract based REMOTELY

Description:

We require a Content & UX Strategist to act as the primary interface between our internal SMEs and our external web supplier. The platform (a WordPress membership site) is currently in the build phase. The supplier is leading the design and technical development; this role will focus on advising the supplier and the management on the right UX choices, ensuring internal content a is high quality and aligns with government standards, coordinating client-side content inputs, and advising leadership on ongoing platform improvements and future roadmap features.

As a Content and UX Strategist, your main responsibilities will be:

• Review proposed page layouts, form structures, and user journeys to ensure they align with user-centred design principles and public sector accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.2 AA).
• Provide feedback to the supplier and advice to senior leadership on UX choices for key workflows, such as member registration, profile change requests, and resource library filtering.
• Work with internal fraud SMEs to gather, refine, and review the client-side content required for the site.
• Ensure user-facing copy and automated email notifications (e.g., welcome emails, status updates, and inactivity alerts) uses technically correct, plain-English, and accessible wording before handing them to the supplier.
• Advise the supplier on the structure of our drop-down lists and categories (e.g., fraud disciplines, organisation lists, and resource tags) to ensure they reflect internal policy and make sense to end users.
• Advise GCFP leadership on potential service improvements, UX enhancements, and content strategies throughout the build phase to continuously optimize the member experience.
• Help leadership identify, prioritize, and articulate requirements for future platform phases (e.g. Multi-Factor Authentication, and CPD/LMS integrations)
• Act as a supportive bridge between non-technical fraud experts and the supplier's design team, helping translate policy intent into sensible content choices without adding unnecessary complexity or scope creep to the current build.

Essential:

• Content Design & UX Advisory: Experience reviewing digital services, forms, and user journeys to advise suppliers on best practices for user experience and content layout.
• Content Creation & Editing: Strong copywriting skills with the ability to take complex policy or technical information from SMEs and turn it into clear, plain-English digital copy.
• Information Structure & Taxonomies: Experience advising on how to structure website categories, drop-down options, and navigation so information is easy for users to find.
• Accessibility & GDS Guidelines: Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 AA) and user-centred design practices in the public sector.
• Strategic Roadmap & Feature Advisory: Demonstrated ability to evaluate digital platforms, identify user friction points, and advise leadership on iterative feature improvements and future digital roadmap priorities.
• Supplier Collaboration: Comfortable working alongside external digital agencies, offering constructive feedback and ensuring a steady flow of client-side content inputs.
