Description & Requirements
On behalf of The Home Office, we are looking for a Commercial Audit, Assurance and Risk Lead (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based in Croydon, Liverpool, Manchester or Sheffield.

As a Commercial Audit, Assurance and Risk Lead, your main responsibilities will be:
- Risk training and sharing best practice across Commercial (and stakeholders as appropriate).
- Partnering commercial customers to support proactive risk identification, effective articulation of risks, and support to create mitigation plans and robust monitoring.
- Responsible for reporting on themes, trends and escalation of risks.
- Collaborate with other parts of the team to identify, and manage shared opportunities – for example, how open audit actions manifest as risks, or thematic risks present opportunities to revise process or policy.
Essential:
- Sound knowledge and application of Commercial Policy, ensuring procurement activities are conducted in line with governance requirements, regulatory frameworks, and best practice procurement standards.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and engaging suppliers and senior stakeholders.
- Strong Risk Management capability, with experience identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring commercial, contractual, and operational risks throughout the procurement and contract lifecycle.
- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
Desirable:
- Formal risk management qualification (e.g., APM Risk Management Certificate, Management of Risk (MoR), PMI-RMP, PRINCE2 Risk, or equivalent), with the ability to apply structured risk management methodologies within procurement, commercial, and project environments.
