On behalf of CDDO, we are looking for a Senior Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 6 months contract based Hybrid - London, Manchester or Bristol.
The Central Digital and Data Office leads the Government digital and data function for the government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data and
technology transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.
We are responsible for:
● Digital, Data and Technology Strategy and Standards, like the Technology
Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
● Cross-government Government Digital and
Data performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
● Government Digital and Data Capability Development, including the
Government Digital and Data pay framework
As a Senior Content Designer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Identify and build strong relationships with stakeholders across large-scale and high-profile projects, influencing and collaborating with them to improve content quality;
- Work with OCTO colleagues to capture their thoughts, needs, insight and evaluation data, so you can propose and create impactful content;
- Take a user-centred approach to explaining how to use government products and services to a technical and non-technical audiences;
- Create and iterate user-centred content efficiently and to a high standard (e.g. you will write blog posts for or on behalf of the technical community);
- Make complex issues easy to understand and work with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, validity and consistency of content;
- Support the commissioning of creative and fully-accessible multimedia content, including interactive publications, video and graphics;
- Demonstrate applying accessibility best-practice and stand ready with solutions for accessible content, and follow existing style guidance so we can always lead by example;
- Work with the Comms team to plan how pieces will appear on different channels, including interface features, page structure, images/video and wireframes;
- Use analytics data, user feedback and user research to identify the needs of users, map user journeys and inform content strategy.
Essential:
- Have experience in creating, iterating, publishing and managing high-quality, user-centred content in the UK government, and in using analytics, user feedback, and user research to evaluate and improve content.
- Be able to take complex language and content and make them simple to understand, make the case for user-focused design and be able to explain your decisions clearly.
- Have a proven track record in building relationships with stakeholders to understand their goals and working with them to improve user journeys and content quality.
- Have experience in working on the development and implementation of content strategy and in managing multiple projects, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
