AMS PSR

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Project Manager (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based remotely but does Include 3 days a week at Corsham

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) is a central government department with a mission to protect our country and provide the ultimate guarantee of its security and independence, as well as helping to protect its values and interests abroad.

To do this we have an annual budget of almost £40 billion and a workforce comprising 193,000 people, almost 59,000 of whom are civilians. We currently manage more than £11 billion of spend every year.

The Project Manager is responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. The Project Manager has a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realized.

DV Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks

 As a Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

• Delivery – Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints
• Project Management – Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.
• Set project controls.
• Design the project structure appropriate to stage.
• Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies
• Business Case – Coordinate development of the Business Case
• Budget – Track delivery within budget
• Resources – Schedule / manage resources to deliver the project. May work independently or with a small team
• Benefits Realization – Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned.
• Ensure appropriate Benefits Realization Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the Business Case
• Stakeholder Management – Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships
• Risks & Issues – Identify and monitor project risks and issues.
• Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate
• Governance – Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making
• Assurance – Support or set appropriate project assurance
• Change Management – Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders
• Guidance & Support – Seek appropriate support, guidance and coaching from the project community.
• Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance
• Project Performance & Controls – Build Project Plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Identify and set appropriate Project Controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.

Essential Skills

• Extensive experience in the delivery of technical projects within central government
• Stakeholder engagement at the levels
• Experience of dealing with multiple government offices to deliver within timescales
• Project management skillset, Risk, Issues, governance and dependencies
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong self starter
• Formal project management qualification
