Description & Requirements



On behalf of Defra, we are looking for an Assistant Marina Officer (PAYE) for a 12 Month contract based in Northampton. This is not a full time role and will involve shift work.

As an Assistant Marina Officer, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Water flushing (if the outside temperature exceeds 20 degrees Celsius.
  • Checking facilities are stocked and maintained in a good condition.
  • Collecting post from the marina mailbox and distributing to the individual mailboxes in the reception.
  • Signing in any contractors in the signing in book located in the office (this includes both Environment Agency contractors and customer’s boat maintenance contractors).
  • Opening the viewer’s area gate in the mornings, this is not necessary during the weekend.
  • Answering the office phone and taking bookings.
  • Sales in terms of: visitor moorings, pump out tokens, maps, electricity, Navigation Keys, etc.



Essential:


  • Good customer service skills and ability to communicate with contract holders and visitors.
  • Ability to complete and record basic sales transactions.
  • Willing to carry out a range of duties to include some general cleaning of area, maintaining facilities, checking stock and restocking where appropriate.
