On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Portfolio Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based remotely but does Include occasional visits to the Swindon office

Develop project and programme management capability across AHRC.
As a Portfolio Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
- Provide colleagues with the tools, expertise and information to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects and programmes.
- Facilitate capacity and resource planning across the portfolio, aligned to our business planning cycle.
- Empower colleagues with the knowledge and skills required to apply project and programme frameworks and processes effectively and proportionally.
- Ensure consistency in practice when delivering aspects of large programmes (e.g. roles and responsibilities, resource allocation, timescales, code of conduct) across the organisation.
- Keep colleagues who are not actively involved with large programme delivery updated on changes to processes and best-practice.
- Provide advice, training and ongoing support for colleagues delivering large programmes, on their effective delivery and management.
- Support the implementation of new systems and processes to aid in the delivery of projects and programmes.
- Implementation of UKRI frameworks and templates for project and programme lifecycles
- Create and maintain best-practice repositories and toolkits for project and programme management.
- Create and maintain a repository for all key project documentation.
- Create and maintain a log of “lessons learned” from major projects and programmes.
- Develop project and programme management capability matrix, aligned with the Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF), for staff and advising on appropriate training and development plans.
- Providing specialist support and advice on the application of project and programme methodologies with regards to effectiveness and proportionality to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Working with our Strategy, Impact and Evidence Team on implementing and harmonising Benefits Realisation and Evaluation processes.
- Leading the development of best practice in project and programme management and contributing to improving professional standards across the organisation through membership of the UKRI Project Delivery Profession.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience as an Portfolio manager ideally within central government
- Stakeholder engagement at all levels
- Experience and knowledge in both building and maintaining relationships within a busy business
- Excellent communication skills
- Microsoft office suite
- Strong self starter
